Consider this radical statement. Do not make another New Years resolution ever!  Rather resolvolutions that stem from the heart of God.

Resolutions are self sustained and resolvolutions are God ordained! Let me share with you a method to accomplishing this powerful concept. Resolvolutions not resolutions will bring you greater success to 2011.

First honestly answer this question; are your resolutions and plans for 2011 God ordained, self ordained or ordained by the demands of the world?

Typically we enter the new year with resolutions WE conclude are the best plans for us or with plans in place that satisfy others demands.  They fail.  The reason these resolutions fail is because WE are going to DO the impossible, achieve the goal WE STILL have not realized, overcome the addictions, satisfy demands PEOPLE have made of us in order to accomplish their selfish ambitions, on and on without consulting God. I mean really consulting God. Proverbs 14:12 says “There is a way (plans) that seems right to a man but in the end it leads to death (defeat).”

Rethink your plans by taking one step back. Set aside time to journal and pray. Just an extra 20 minutes a day throughout the month to consult God.  Next and of upmost importance as you do this wait for the Lord to speak to you through that still small voice that runs through your thoughts. In prayer the thoughts that you have but know they are not your thoughts; this is the voice of God.  Ask Him to use people, places and things to confirm what you believe HE has in store for you in 2011. Ask Him to abruptly close doors that are not His and open doors wide to things you are to hone in on.  Pray diligently for eyes to see and ears to hear the truth. Then, you must be willing to receive what you know He is revealing to you.

The bible says in and of ourselves we can do nothing but Jeremiah 29:11 says the plans God has for us will allow us to prosper and achieve success. It also says when we seek Him we will find Him and His plan for us!

Second step, ditch the resolutions and instead base everything off of what you lay down instead of what you are picking up to control. Yes, all the resolutions you have made to lose weight, get a new job, get out of debt, be more kind to your spouse etc. lay them down at the foot of the cross. Instead of handling it, you hand it over. Instead of mending it allow him to mold it!

This very act alone sets in motion the high probability that you will be successful.  More of Him and less of you is the answer. Ask for strength to set aside those things that are weighing you down and keeping you from becoming all God created you to be! In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your path straight.

One final key.  Resolvolutions only stick and stay for the duration of the year if you live Romans 12:2 , “Do not conform any longer to the pattern (demands) of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind (taking time with God). Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will (resolutions) are-his good, pleasing, perfect (successful) will.” (emphasis added)

Renewing your mind daily confirms resolvoutions of the heart and creates an ability for you to achieve success.

You have now made yourself available for resolvolutions to produce God ordained results.   Knowing the heart of God, knowing that where you are going there too He will also be places resolve into the resolution which breeds success at every corner!  This resolve keeps you focused and faithful to the resolution that God purposed for you.
